NGC Aerospace is looking for an embedded software specialist or engineer to analyze, design, operate, and validate embedded software for aerial and space systems. The person selected will also be called upon to act as technical lead.

Your new day-to-day

Create software for aerial vehicles (unmanned or semi-autonomous aircrafts) and space vehicles, from the research phase to the delivery of the system

  • Design software functions and algorithms for navigation, guidance, control, and artificial vision to meet requirements
  • Program software and modelling environments using MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++
  • Integrate hardware components including sensors and embedded processors
  • Perform numerical simulations of operational environments, dynamic tests in controlled environments, and flight tests and analyze their results
  • Design simulators that reproduce the dynamic behaviour of aerial and space vehicles including sensors and actuators (digital twins)

Plan and coordinate the technical aspects of projects

  • Advise the project manager on the content of the tasks, the personnel required, and the schedule in accordance with quality standards applicable to the project
  • Establish a detailed plan of the technical tasks
  • Write technical specifications compliant with customer requirements
  • Maintain technical specifications updated according to the evolution of the project
  • Coordinate and follow up on technical tasks, provide explanations to the personnel, and provide answers to their questions
  • Identify, analyse, and solve technical problems
  • Interact with customers on technical aspects of projects
  • Review technical deliverables and iterate with the personnel following review
  • Approve deliverables from a technical perspective
  • Provide suggestions to improve the efficiency or the quality of the technical work within the company

Prepare technical documents using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and present results to colleagues, customers and partners

Required profile

The essentials:

  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience
  • Skills and experience with MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++
  • Ability to design software algorithms
  • Knowledge of guidance, navigation, or control systems
  • Effective communication skills
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written
  • Organizational skills, autonomy, ability to work both alone and within a team
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks from different projects simultaneously

Assets:

  • Experience in design and operation of avionics or UAV systems
  • Experience in design and operation of space systems
  • Knowledge of Linux
  • Knowledge of real-time operating systems including multithreading
  • Knowledge of and experience with best practices in software quality and certification such as:
    • RTCA DO-178B/C
    • MISRA
    • ECSS
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (or eligible to become a member)
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms
